We are very excited to share the proposed itinerary for the September 2026 Big Ride – the Teardrop Ride!
This ride is shaping up to be one of our most exciting yet. Over three weeks, riders will travel from the Tip of Cape York all the way down to Wilsons Promontory in Victoria – tracing a true “teardrop” across Australia.
What makes this ride particularly special is the flexibility it offers our members. We’ve heard your feedback from previous rides that different ride lengths suit different people, so this time we’ve built the route to make participation easier than ever.
You can:
- Take on the full three-week challenge, riding from top to bottom
- Join us for a section of the ride that suits you
- Participate in the parts that run through your state
No matter how you join, it’s a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, reinvigorate our community, and be part of something meaningful together.
We also encourage everyone who has ever said “I’d love to be part of one of the big rides” to take the leap and join us this time. Whether it’s a few days or the whole journey, we would love to see you out on the road with us.
As always, these rides are only possible thanks to the incredible support of our volunteers. If you’d like to help organise events in the towns along the route, we warmly invite you to join the Teardrop Ride subcommittee and help bring this ride to life.
Please find the suggested itinerary attached. It has been divided into two sections:
Section 1 – Cairns north to the Tip of Cape York: This part of the itinerary has now been finalised.
Section 2 – Cairns to Wilsons Promontory: This section is still open for suggestions and yet to be confirmed, so we welcome your ideas.
If you are planning to join the first section of the ride, we strongly encourage you to book accommodation as soon as possible, as options in these remote areas are limited. Suggested accommodation is listed in the itinerary.
